Linfield learning: Garry Killgore, Oregon's top teacher
Garry Killgore spends each day doing what he loves best - coaching, teaching and researching.
For his passion and commitment, Killgore, a professor of health and human performance at Linfield College, was named Oregon Teacher of the Year at the college and university level by the Oregon Association of Physical Education. Killgore, founder and president of AQx Sports, designed the first deep-water running shoe, designed to maximize training while minimizing injury. "So many research questions of interest come from athletics," said Killgore, who is also a track and cross country coach. "I see examples every day. I take these into the classroom and on to research with my students, which then gets applied to athletics."
