H1N1 (Swine Flu) Information
Because of on-going questions and concerns regarding the H1N1 virus (commonly referred to as swine flu), we want to bring you up-to-date on the college’s response as we move into fall semester. While it’s clear that this flu does not pose the threat to life that public health officials originally feared, it is assumed that many individuals will contract the H1N1 during this year’s flu season, September through March.
Linfield continues to monitor the H1N1 virus outbreak. A plan has been developed which includes making vaccine available to students, faculty and staff as it becomes available and an educational program to help members of our community avoid becoming ill and, should they contract the flu, provide resources to assist them and reduce its spread.

Information on H1N1 vaccine clinics will be provided on this site and through email. This website also provides links to additional information regarding both the H1N1 and seasonal flu. The site will be updated as needed.
Seasonal Flu Information
McMinnville Campus seasonal flu immunizations
Seasonal flu immunizations are still available through the Student Health Center, 503-883-2535. The cost is $30. Health Center hours are: Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Portland Campus seasonal flu immunization clinics
All Linfield College Portland Campus students, faculty and staff (with a valid Linfield ID) are eligible to get free seasonal flu vaccine with Legacy Health Systems. Legacy is providing five vaccination clinics that are open to Legacy employees and Linfield students, faculty and staff. Steps you can take
Each of us plays a role in keeping our campus safe and healthy. Careless health hygiene can result in spreading illness to others. Stay informed. The college will follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control, Oregon Public Health Division and Yamhill County Health Department.
In the meantime, you can take three important steps to make sure the flu, colds and other illnesses don’t spread:
- Protect yourself and others by washing your hands often.
- Cover your mouth with something other than your hand when you cough.
- If you are sick, visit your health care provider, and avoid public places where others will be exposed to your illness.
Know the flu symptoms:
- Fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue
Please direct media inquiries about the flu situation on campus to the office of Communication (x2498). This office will respond on behalf of the college.
